Edge of the Dawn

Album:
Birth of the Spoken Groove

I stood at the edge of the dawn
Where yesterday is gone
And the light that will come
Will be brighter than the noonday sun.
Ooh, I want to see that place
Ooh, I want to look on grace.

I saw what is coming in the future,
A light bursting with furious velocity over the plains.
It came much quicker than a train,
Like when one sees the approach of powerfully violent rains,
Dark clouds full of thunderbolt flashes, rumbling crashes, clashes,
Cymbals declaring, foreswearing the approach of the glory of God!
He, far away in my vision, coming nearer.
I felt the electric surge of His radiance,
Squeezing through narrow openings, enlarging, stretching my imagination,
Pulling synaptic connections toegether to meet, to comprehend
The full picture of who He is.

HE IS.

I stood with my face to the sky
And thrown on my selfish pride
And I tried to hang the stars
But I fell and came down hard
Ooh, what kind of man am I
Ooh,

I fell with my face to the ground
My kingdoms came crashing down
When I opened my eyes
I could see through all the lies
The blood came down
Ooh the blood came down
New life I’ve found

I see through it and from it, everything else illuminated,
Lit-up, chock-full, jack-o-lantern jugs, juicy mugs,
Flowing with quantum packets of His presence, fierce photons
Given off by my excited electrons to blaze on darkness.
The darkness cannot comprehend, command, withstand, demand its halt.
It moves, untamed through dry, arid ranges, watering, drinking, loving.

Now I stand with my hands to the sky
And I sing the song of the bride
Who awaits the coming day
When the groom will come and take us away
Ooh, I want to see that place
Ooh, I want to look on grace
Ooh, I want to shout His praise
Ooh, just to see His face.

I saw what is coming in the future.
It is here and not yet, whole, but unmet, raging, fomenting, moment,
To end every torment, straighten every path bent, restore every pure thing spent,
Pronounce final judgment, death’s annulment, life’s fulfillment.
Step into this eternal, invisible tent.
He is coming.
