Laundry Money

Album:
Peter Nevland / Late Bloomer

Jingle jangle, flingle flangle go the coins in my pocket.
The wind is blowin’, and I think I like it!
Whistlin’ as I walk along the starlit street.
My friends are makin’ music to the rhythm of my shufflin’ feet.

Gotta do my laundry, resolve this quandry,
How many loads am I gonna do today? Hmmm…
White clothes in a pile, dark clothes in a pile,
Detergent sitting all the while, getting’ charged for
It’s chance to join in the action. Satisfaction
Runs through my fingers as I shove ‘em in my pockets.
Clink a link dink, shook a look schlak schlak schlak
Shaka laka shaka laka shaka laka shook shook!

I see that grin, breakin’ in.
You can’t keep it down, your upside-down frown
And neither can I! Whoop Whoop!

So I throw my clothes in after the shush shush of gleeful detergent,
And these melodious friends of mine, the coins from my pocket
Depart into the machine of clean.
Gone forever with a chink a plink glomp.
Gurgle furgle rumble wumble booble bobble
Hum bubba dum doody wooody booty.
Swirling waters gurgle and holler. We’ll make you clean!
We’re like the spleen in a body and happy slappy to do it.

Oh, but I think maybe I like the chinkle plinkle of my now departed friends,
Makin’ music to the rhythm of my shufflin’ feet
I believe I must acquire some more to accompany me along the starlit street.
So I slide my lean, green bill into the wheel of change
And rejoice as a plunky shlunky greeting reaches my ears.
I sling my clean clothes over my shoulder.
My whistle shatters boulders to powder.
All my worries don’t matter ‘cause the wind is blowin’
And I’m overjoyed to hear the
Jingle jangle flingle flangle of the coins in my pocket.
