Shameless Art

Album:
This is Spoken Groove

God whose word weaves the artistry of the universe,
God whose breath breaks the lifeless shell of a human corpse,
God whose humility hears my beating heart cry for love,
Come invigorate my waking
Set your lips to my mouth and kindle creativity's spark.
Dress me in shameless art.

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to thee, my precious Savior
I surrender all

Rich color overflowing goblets,
Spread out in hungry fingers,
Yearning dance muscles,
Each weapon I wield covers barren landscapes with beauty and
Drips the sweet elixirs of rest to a weary, weathered will.
A spent and sighing soul can't be cured by idle dreams.
I want to feed on your fingertip drippings,
Lick gobs of delicious paint from your canvas.
Wrap your arm around my waist and show me how to create,
To sing,
To dance like an invalid who just received ballet slippers,
Like an eagle training to fly underwater,
Like a porcupine reading up on cuddling.
Whisper magic spells and inscribe them on my temples.
The doorway to this masterpiece is open and ready to burn incense all night.

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to thee, my precious Savior
I surrender all

Please release your love to smother my fear.
Teach me the quietness of rest,
The refreshing scent of true passion.
I've felt it before, but my hands are groping for grip and
I won't let go of obedience until your masterpiece opens eyes with wonder.
You're the God who laced imagination under every firefly wing.
King of kaleidoscope hued worship,
Set my chest on a collision course explosion.
Release these vulnerable, fortress walls.
Call me to wake with the dawn and sleep in your arms.
King who hears the pleas of desperate prisoners,
King who wars for weakened, frail widows,
God who thinks animals deserve kindness.
Rescue me.

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to thee, my precious Savior
I surrender all
